GREETINGS OF
『KOREA INTERNATIONAL LIVESTOCK EXPO 2025』
First and foremost, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone in the Republic of Korea’s livestock industry for your unwavering support and encouragement for the Korea International Livestock Expo..
The Expo, which proudly stands as a comprehensive livestock exhibition covering all livestock categories, will hold its thirteenth event next year under the theme "The Intrinsic Value of Livestock and Digital Transformation." The event is scheduled to take place from September (September 10-12, 2025), at EXCO in Daegu, continuing the legacy that began with our inaugural exhibition in 1999.
As you are well aware of, the Korean livestock industry stands at a critical juncture. Amid numerous internal and external challenges, various issues have accumulated, and all livestock sectors are striving to stabilize the industry. However, as we witness a chronic decline in self-sufficiency rates each year, it’s clear that we cannot unconditionally assure a bright future for livestock farming. In addition to the imminent challenge of a full opening to duty-free imports of livestock products in 2026, various persistent issues, such as recurring diseases and environmental concerns, have already become destabilizing factors, weighing down on farms and distorting the public image of the livestock industry.
These conditions are increasing uncertainty and operational pressure on our livestock farmers, on companies related to both the upstream and downstream sectors, and on everyone involved in the livestock industry. However, as we have done time and again in the past, we in the livestock sector will proudly overcome these challenges. It is our shared mission, as livestock professionals of today, to surmount all obstacles and build a sustainable future for our industry.
The 2025 Korea Livestock Expo will contribute to enhancing the status and competitiveness of the livestock industry as a key pillar of national food security and a sector that serves the public. By promoting improvements in animal husbandry practices, facilitating the exchange of advanced technological information, and fostering pride within our profession, the Expo will solidify the industry’s image and support its sustainable development.
To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and livestock producer associations (Korean Dairy and Beef Farmers Association, Korea Pork producers Association, The Hanwoo Association, Korea Association for Livestock Housing & Environment Machinery, Korea Poultry Association, Korea Duck Association) pledge to make every effort for the successful hosting of the Expo. We ask for the interest and participation of all those involved in the livestock industry.
Even amid the current crisis, I send my endless admiration and support to all of you who continue to stand firm at the forefront, overcoming challenges with unwavering effort.
Thank you.
